Comcast's "base business is probably at the moment kind of unaffected" by the coronavirus, chairman and CEO Brian Roberts said Tuesday. "There should be no losses should there not be an Olympics," Roberts told an investor conference, noting that the company has insurance, and adding that the virus could benefit Comcast's pay TV and broadband business. Dav Lovinger, executive vp of ad sales for NBC Sports Group, said in a statement Tuesday that the company has “sold nearly 90% of our Tokyo Olympic inventory and the vast majority of our tentpole sponsorships have been sold," adding that the company has passed $1.25 billion in ad commitments. Jeffrey Katzenberg's mobile-centric streaming service has now raised $1.75 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal, with a little more than a month before it launches. CEO Meg Whitman told the Journal that the company has no plans to raise furhter capital this year. ►Diane von Furstenberg launches podcast with Spotify. The fashion designer and feminist will launch her first podcast, InCharge with DVF, on Spotify starting March 12. Her guests include Kris Jenner, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Project Runway judge Elaine Welteroth, Project Runway host Karlie Kloss and SiriusXM Satellite Radio founder Martine Rothblatt. The podcast is the latest effort by the streaming music service to build out its exclusive podcast lineup. More. ►Spike Lee vs. the New York Knicks: The director on Tuesday morning went on ESPN's First Take to say he has no idea why he was harassed by Madison Square Garden security at a Kicks game Monday night, which turned into something of a heated confrontation that ended up on social media, with the team responding by saying in part "It's disappointing that Spike would create this false controversy to perpetuate drama." The digital site, which will turn four in May, will now take on a larger role within the Walt Disney Company, and will add coverage of topics like fashion, technology, the arts, and more, according to a memo sent to ESPN staff by president Jimmy Pitaro. Pitaro writes that the change is being made "with a goal of sharing that content with a larger audience. As part of that expansion, Kevin Merida will continue in his role as Senior Vice President and Editor in Chief of The Undefeated and now report directly to me." ►Little Fires Everywhere review: Inkoo Kang writes that "If Big Little Lies gave only a dutiful glance at Monterey's economic ecosystem, Little Fires Everywhere takes care to uncover the many layers of racial and class privilege that make motherhood easier, if seldom easy. Its exploration of why women often feel more alienated from than connected to one another is far from lean-in aspirational, but at least it's honest." The review. Daniel Fienberg reviews FXX's Dave... --CBS has pushed its drama pilot Out the Door in order to take more time to find its lead actor. --Ratings: The annual Women Tell All episode of The Bachelor topped the 2019 edition and helped ABC score a win among adults 18-49 in primetime Monday. NBC's The Voice, meanwhile, was the most-watched show of the night and put up ratings virtually identical to its premiere last week. Ronan Farrow Cuts Ties With Hachette ►Ronan Farrow severs ties with Hachette over Woody Allen memoir. "I was disappointed to learn through press reports that Hachette, my publisher, acquired Woody Allen's memoir after other major publishers refused to do so and concealed the decision from me and its own employees while we were working on Catch and Kill — a book about how powerful men, including Woody Allen, avoid accountability for sexual abuse," the investigative reporter tweeted Tuesday. Later in the statement, he says he told the publisher he couldn't work with the company "in good conscience" any longer. The story. ►Berlin Golden Bear winner Mohammad Rasoulof summoned to serve prison sentence in Iran. The director, whose There is No Evil won Berlin's top prize on Saturday, was convicted of “propaganda” against the state for his previous films and sentenced to a one-year prison sentence.
